Burdened workloads and lost work-life balance after reorganization - Physical Security Specialist IRS Employee Review

Pros

Standard government benefits, many offices are near mass transit facilities.

Cons

Recent reorganization and restructuring have made workloads burdensome, most work/life balance opportunities (remote/telework, compressed work schedules, alternate work schedule, flexible work hours) have disappeared. Before this took place, the last Commissioner, Billy Long, made attempts to improve the office culture, and was subsequently removed. Additionally, most positions were reviewed, and the full performance levels were reduced at least one grade, some were reduced two, causing an exodus of experience and knowledge.

Pros

It's lost a lot of the perks that drew me in the first place. The floor level people are very supportive of one another. But that's human nature.

Cons

The management is, in a reciprocation of the trope, an 'old girls club.' The criteria for those that want to get in is to 'not be threatening or easily controlled'. Everyone else is either forced out through the coordinated gatekeeping of the club, or waited out as most of the management is a temporary assignment. For the past two years I've been promised help and guidance, and I receive none. It's hard to be willing to help on special assignments when I'm punished for doing them in the first place.
