Pros

Competitive benefits Conveniently located office "Cool" culture Insane amount of snacks/kitchen Free lunches Lots of Events

Cons

CEO is aggressive and controlling about every detail so teams are unable to produce results High churn. Quality candidates realize the dysfunction within 90 days and leave Lack of career road map, threatening tactics to "motivate" employees by reminding them they can be fired at any time No training, no company education, expected to "get it" instantly because you're being paid for it. Long hours, pretty much plan on a 12 hour day as the usual Lack of transparency throughout the organization. Don't be swayed by all the food & drink and events - there are real red flags here.

To whoever wrote this: From the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry for all and any way that we and I failed you. I wish you the very best in your career and in your life. And I hope that you will some day feel better about your time at Intercom. I am willing to talk and meet with you any time you want. You have my email address. <3 To anyone considering talking to us about a position at Intercom: Please know that I am so deeply passionate about our goal to create a truly human company. A company that shows its employees love and respect, and invests in their growth such that they leave here with substantially more opportunities available to them than when they started, with happy, fun stories about their time here. I believe we have a real shot at doing something very, very special. This person is clearly extremely upset, and they are entitled to their opinion, but the vast majority of this post is simply untrue. Three quick examples: 1. "Quality candidates realize the dysfunction within 90 days and leave." I don't believe there is a single person out of the hundreds of people we've hired who's left within 90 days of their start date. I can think of one person who left after 5 months about a year ago. 2. "Long hours … plan on a 12 hour day as the usual." I leave the office at about 6pm nearly every day. When I do, there are about 20 out of 140 people in the SF office still here, mostly eating dinner. I'm proud of our mature approach to balancing work and life. 3. "Threatening tactics … reminding them they can be fired at any time." This is a really mean and hurtful thing to suggest. We would never do this. It's simply not how Intercom works. We're imperfect in a million ways, but we're not dumb and we're far kinder than this. If you are interested in learning more about Intercom, please talk to anyone who works here. Right now is a particularly exciting time to join. We have positions available in every department. Eoghan eoghan@intercom.com

Pros

One of the biggest positives is the opportunity to work on meaningful, high-impact projects. The company provides access to the right tools, resources, and support needed to do great work. As a senior engineer, I feel trusted to think critically about problems, challenge assumptions, and help reframe solutions when needed. Stakeholders and the broader business are receptive to feedback, which creates a strong environment for collaboration and problem-solving. When blockers come up, my manager and the organization move quickly to remove them. Overall, it’s a fast-moving, high-trust environment where strong engineers can make a real impact.

Cons

The pace is very fast, which can be a challenge depending on how someone prefers to work. Priorities, tools, and ways of working can change quickly, and it requires a willingness to adapt, learn, and rewire how you approach problems. For people who prefer slower, more predictable environments, the pace may feel intense at times. However, for those who are comfortable with change and motivated by momentum, it can also be one of the most rewarding aspects of the company.

Pros

Founders are still involved and will help on top accounts. Competitive compensation. Good breakfast and lunch. Access to the resources one needs, with no apparent shortage of money.

Cons

Silent layoffs. Lack of trust in the employees by leadership. Senior management is poor at defining and communicating expectations. The fast pace of hiring, changing titles and roles, frequently adjusting strategies and shifting ICPs leads to regular confusion. Very poor professional development (zero for many). Investor interests have taken a higher priority than the employees. A once team-first culture has weakened, as the company becomes more corporate, with the early company value of 'We go further together' being eliminated and never replaced with anything about working strong as a team, which is another sign of the diminishing culture.
