Pros

- The people: an exceptional CEO and senior leadership team. Caring and supportive people/HR teams. World class engineering, product, design, and marketing folks. Throughout the company, most are very, very smart, and you seldom encounter big egos. - The ambition: the company is aiming very high. There's a infectious sense that those around you are doing the work of their lives. - The business: one of the fastest growing companies of its generation, products that customers genuinely love, great investors. - The culture: surprisingly grown up. People are dedicated to their work, but tend to go home when its done. There's a special mixture of kindness and high expectations. Humor and seriousness. - The mission: people there talk about the mission a lot. That's true in lots of companies. But teams have a habit of thinking very long term, in a joined up way, which feels unique.

Cons

- Intimidating for new people: there's a healthy culture of taking bets and risks overall, but there's also a strong sense of taste and opinion, which can make it difficult for newcomers to figure out where and how to leave their mark. - Occasionally top down: many of the leaders in the company were ICs not too long ago, and many were excellent in their disciplines. Some could do better in entrusting new layers of managers and makers to do their thing with freedom to succeed or fail. I think this is a stage that most great companies go through, and it improved during my time.

Thank you! Yes, 100% regarding empowering new layers more. We're definitely in the middle of a transition right now. There are some parts of the company where we've figured this out well. Others where we need to do way, way better. I really want to get there, and I'm hopeful that we will soon enough.

Pros

One of the biggest positives is the opportunity to work on meaningful, high-impact projects. The company provides access to the right tools, resources, and support needed to do great work. As a senior engineer, I feel trusted to think critically about problems, challenge assumptions, and help reframe solutions when needed. Stakeholders and the broader business are receptive to feedback, which creates a strong environment for collaboration and problem-solving. When blockers come up, my manager and the organization move quickly to remove them. Overall, it’s a fast-moving, high-trust environment where strong engineers can make a real impact.

Cons

The pace is very fast, which can be a challenge depending on how someone prefers to work. Priorities, tools, and ways of working can change quickly, and it requires a willingness to adapt, learn, and rewire how you approach problems. For people who prefer slower, more predictable environments, the pace may feel intense at times. However, for those who are comfortable with change and motivated by momentum, it can also be one of the most rewarding aspects of the company.

Pros

Founders are still involved and will help on top accounts. Competitive compensation. Good breakfast and lunch. Access to the resources one needs, with no apparent shortage of money.

Cons

Silent layoffs. Lack of trust in the employees by leadership. Senior management is poor at defining and communicating expectations. The fast pace of hiring, changing titles and roles, frequently adjusting strategies and shifting ICPs leads to regular confusion. Very poor professional development (zero for many). Investor interests have taken a higher priority than the employees. A once team-first culture has weakened, as the company becomes more corporate, with the early company value of 'We go further together' being eliminated and never replaced with anything about working strong as a team, which is another sign of the diminishing culture.
