Pros

Colleagues are great Lunch provided daily Office Experience team does a great job making it a fun environment to be in Great products and big ambitions

Cons

I joined Intercom because I heard great things about its culture, and when I joined that was true. I was proud to work here. But over time you learn a lot about the actual values of the people you work with. I'm not ok with mistreating people and sketchiness, and I want to work for a company and team that genuinely cares about its people through both the good and the difficult times. I would strongly encourage anyone considering joining Intercom to take a close look at the team's retention and history. In some teams (e.g. finance), everyone below director-level quit within less than a month...

Intercom Response

Hey. Sending the same message to both of you given you both worked together, on the same team, left at the same time, in the same circumstances, and have the same complaints here, etc. Ultimately, no matter what, as far as I'm concerned, if anyone EVER leaves this company feeling how you're feeling, we've failed. 100%. There is always a way to part amicably, and with respect and love. I'm really sorry it ended this way. That said, I do have a responsibility to defend the company in light of these statements. There are a bunch of people reading these who will be influenced by them and Intercom deserves for them to have the truth. I don't accept the "mistreatment" and "sketchiness" comments. That's not fair and not true. What is true is that your manager was not proactive enough about giving feedback on poor performance. This is on him. He left it way too late. He knows he messed up badly and he will be held accountable to learning from this and not making that mistake again. But he's a very sweet person, who means so well, who is very capable, and who has my full support. I do not say that about all people who mess up, but I can see the character of this person and am very comfortable defending him. Regarding "in some teams … everyone below director-level quit within less than a month", this is patently false. I don't know of a single person in the past many years who has quit in less than a month. (I'm maybe forgetting someone.) I understand you're pissed off at us, or maybe you just have your facts wrong. But this is an unfair thing to put out there too. Again, ultimately, the very fact that you feel this way means we failed you. There is no two ways about it. I am truly sorry and I hope that in time you come to net out feeling positively about your time here. If you have more to get off your chest, please feel free to mail me any time. If you feel like I'm misrepresenting the facts here, please correct me and I'll update this post. eoghan@intercom.io Sending good vibes and sincerely wishing you the very best. <3

Pros

One of the biggest positives is the opportunity to work on meaningful, high-impact projects. The company provides access to the right tools, resources, and support needed to do great work. As a senior engineer, I feel trusted to think critically about problems, challenge assumptions, and help reframe solutions when needed. Stakeholders and the broader business are receptive to feedback, which creates a strong environment for collaboration and problem-solving. When blockers come up, my manager and the organization move quickly to remove them. Overall, it’s a fast-moving, high-trust environment where strong engineers can make a real impact.

Cons

The pace is very fast, which can be a challenge depending on how someone prefers to work. Priorities, tools, and ways of working can change quickly, and it requires a willingness to adapt, learn, and rewire how you approach problems. For people who prefer slower, more predictable environments, the pace may feel intense at times. However, for those who are comfortable with change and motivated by momentum, it can also be one of the most rewarding aspects of the company.

Pros

Founders are still involved and will help on top accounts. Competitive compensation. Good breakfast and lunch. Access to the resources one needs, with no apparent shortage of money.

Cons

Silent layoffs. Lack of trust in the employees by leadership. Senior management is poor at defining and communicating expectations. The fast pace of hiring, changing titles and roles, frequently adjusting strategies and shifting ICPs leads to regular confusion. Very poor professional development (zero for many). Investor interests have taken a higher priority than the employees. A once team-first culture has weakened, as the company becomes more corporate, with the early company value of 'We go further together' being eliminated and never replaced with anything about working strong as a team, which is another sign of the diminishing culture.
