Pros

It is hard to find a pro when it comes to working for the Integrated field service department. I guess if i had to give one, i would have to go with the pay rate.

Cons

Working for the field service department was a nightmare for the past two and a half years. The company grew to big to fast and tried to continue as small business. The Managers in the field service department did not care about the employees nor do they care about the customer. If you are not part of a click then they do not listen to what you have to say. Supervisors get promoted without the experience nor the knowledge to preform the job at hand. The software provided to do the job is well below par which causes getting the job at hand completed in a timely manor impossible. The expectations are unreasonable and the department managers require the entire department to go on 10 hours mandatory overtime for weeks on end in order to meet the expectations. The management staff would send emails 3 times a day advising the department is not working hard enough and we need to do more to meet the goals. Some emails would say your doing a great job, but everyone needs to work harder to get the numbers under control. the staff was never good enough. The company gives 8 holidays a year unless you work for the field service department. They took part of the Thanksgiving holiday, Christmas Eve and New Years day away to meet department goals.

Pros

1. The front line workers are fantastic. Most are willing to go above and beyond to get the job done, and pitch in when things go wrong (as they often did). 2. Many jobs can be done remote, which is great for families and employees 3. Health care was very good and low cost for employees

Cons

1. There was an incredible amount of micro-managing 2. Metrics consumed a good part of your day, but rarely added much value 3. Project managers viewed as glorified administrators, and were often the scape goat when things went wrong.
