Pros
J.Crew was a good place to work overall. The benefits were great, the time off was great, the wellness great, and the corporate discount great. The morals of the company also good - a forward thinking company. I thought the review process was great as well - a process where peers review peers and employees review managers in addition to being reviewed by managers. The company culture was great overall. Certain departments and managers were better to work for than others (as would be the case anywhere.) During my 6 years at J.Crew I worked in 2 different departments and held 3 different titles which was a good sign of growth opportunity. I miss the modern office along with the fact that the office has a front desk associate and IT support 24 hours a day- things I took for granted while there.
Cons
For a forward thinking and modern company, it was a bit "black and white" sometimes in regards to following procedure (i.e. hard to change status quo, develop new ways of working.) Depending on the department, the vibe could also be a bit "corporate" / cold. In two instances, I needed to challenge management as my workload was too large in comparison to others with the same title or even higher title. The pay was mediocre in comparison to competition.
