Pros

The average JCPenney customer is appreciative of your help if you make an effort. It was pretty easy to pick up strategies and ways to please customers and management. As long as you can keep getting credit cards and survey quotas up, you'll be in good graces and can get sizable raises.

Cons

If management isn't driven, it will impact your motivation to succeed too. Your enjoyment of the job will also depend on your coworkers' ability. I was fortunate when I started to have experienced people there with me to instill more respect into the job. Later on, when it was more younger employees with less experience, my enjoyment of the job lowered.

Pros

If you like working early morning hours and getting off early in the afternoon (which I do) this is a great part-time job. I was a college student when I worked here so it worked perfectly with my schedule. The pay is pretty decent and the people you work with are friendly.

Cons

Only real downside is that it's retail. You're going to run into some rude customers from time to time. There's always work to do and not enough time given to do it sometimes. But as long as you work hard and managers see that you're trying your best there isn't too much pressure put on you.
