Pros
I like my co-workers and they are willing to help above and beyond our customers.
Cons
The new restructuring of the company since the new CEO took over doesn't make sense. JC Penney has been known for its coupons, billion dollar days, door busters, etc. After corporate decided to get rid of that, there's hardly any shopper at Penney's. Customers always asked when are you having your door busters, when is your next sale?? And the sale that they're doing every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month is a joke. Most people work on Fridays. If you want to have a sale do it on the weekends. I'm on commission but they got rid of that two weeks ago and they let go of my boss who was very nice and had been working with the company for a while. Moral has gotten low. It was worthwhile working at Penney's for the commission and care plans (I work in Fine Jewelry) but everybody in the entire company who was paid on commission are now paid straight hourly rate. It really hurts. And in my store they got rid of Catalog department and Fine Jewelry is now Catalog. So no more commission and more responsibility. It's difficult to have your full attention to the customers especially in the jewelry department when the phone keeps ringing. I can see it now that a sly and sleek customer will take advantage of the situation and walking out with a gold or diamond.
