Pros

- Job satisfaction is 100% dependent on your current supervisor and team. - There are some genuine, professional and talented people, but they are few and far between. - If you thrive on gossip, backstabbing, ridiculing others and cultivating your social life during work hours, JCPenney headquarters may be the place for you!

Cons

- If you are professional and stay focused on the work, you can easily find yourself an outsider with a target on your back. - HR is so bad at addressing employee issues, taking concerns to them only makes matters worse. They will defend any behavior no matter how outrageous based on rank, and tattle to the employee in question, creating a huge backlash. - Egomaniacal supervisors are permitted to operate with impunity, take frivolous trips, and treat team members with complete disregard "because they can." (Verbatim HR response) - The secret to success is acting entitled, sabotaging others, having a bulldozing/obnoxious personality that isn't interested in the facts, sharing credit or acknowledging good ideas,, and sucking up. The more you sabotage, steal credit, socialize and stroke egos, the better your standing. - Employees are moved around like chess pieces. One day you may find out your direct report or you are reporting to someone else, or in a new position, on a different team, or even a different department, without so much as a conversation. - Pretty + popular = promotion, Professionalism + performance = passed over

Pros

If you like working early morning hours and getting off early in the afternoon (which I do) this is a great part-time job. I was a college student when I worked here so it worked perfectly with my schedule. The pay is pretty decent and the people you work with are friendly.

Cons

Only real downside is that it's retail. You're going to run into some rude customers from time to time. There's always work to do and not enough time given to do it sometimes. But as long as you work hard and managers see that you're trying your best there isn't too much pressure put on you.
