Pros

Seemed like a good opportunity, inbound leads, respected in the MCAT prep space, clearly-defined roles, thorough self-led training

Cons

I was hired after completing two interviews instead of the three they told me I’d need because they thought I was a great fit. I was already selling MCAT and LSAT tutoring packages and needed something that didn’t have me working 70 hours a week. I completed a month of extensive training. Got nothing but great feedback. On Wednesday, after I had been shadow training (just watching live calls and taking notes), Joseph, the HR/hiring/trainer told me I’d be completing my certification on Friday and be up and running and doing my own calls on Monday. Thursday morning rolls around and I get an email simply stating g that they are terminating my employment, because they decided it wasn’t a good fit. That because I am in my probationary period, they don’t have to give me a reason. I was floored. I just left a good job and am now unemployed in an awful jobs market. I have two kids and am a special needs mom. WTF. I emailed back asking for an explanation on what I could have done differently for why the sudden firing. I hadn’t even been given an opportunity to mess up, so have no idea why they pulled the rug out from under me. Two days later, he simply wrote back that they decided I am not a good fit. Nothing else. Shameless! Also, the fellow Academic advisors I met were nice but a little twitchy. You could tell that they are all a little afraid of making one wrong move. The upper management folks I met had the personalities of dried cacti, however. There was no laughter or lighthearted conversation and attempting to build any rapport seemed to be seen as almost combative. In hindsight, I probably dodged a bullet, but really a crappy and unethical way to treat people.

Pros

They made a lot of promises that and offered a lot of money for me to leave my position at a competitor

Cons

They fired me through email on my day off after being on the sales floor for one month with no warning and indication I was in a bad standing. For my first month I was not the lowest in sales. This is also while they were changing their programs and products so what I was trained on was incorrect for half of what I was selling. The CEO is married to the sales trainer who worked part time while I was full time and would train me for 2 hours per week after I did self paced training, Then once I was on the floor she reviewed two or three of my calls in total and gave written notes then for the last two weeks went radio silent. their self paced training you start with had several typos and impossible questions to answer. The head of sales has no sales background and is terrible at confrontation. He reassured me during the interview process that they were a very supportive company towards their employees, but in reality was very unhelpful and hard to get a hold of. They make you follow a poorly written script to sell to people.
