Pros

Employee discount is nice. Coworkers were nice and friendly, as were most of the customers.

Cons

Low pay and extremely low hours each week. JA seems to hire a ton of regular parttime and seasonal parttime people instead of making sure their parttimers have a decent amount of hours each week. One week we were only given 8 hours. What made it worse is it was split over 2 days. But managers gave plenty of hours for themselves, although they were hardly even on the floor or in the back doing charms. Trying to take any time off for vacation is hard, they want you to be available for those hours they'll never be giving you. And being parttime you get no benefits, a great way for JA to spend less on getting and keeping good employees. The entire shift is spent on your feet. And you have to clean the bathrooms. Some mgrs are great and supportive while others are micromanagers and would nitpick over ridiculous things. Sales registers are unnecessarily complicated. Little room for advancement unless you want to pursue positions all over the state. .

Pros

Supportive manager, no sales goal, focus on customer service, nice discount for employees

Cons

It’s still an hourly retail job which means random work hours and working on weekends

Pros

It can be decent pay

Cons

Other than getting a pay check I can't think of anything here that is a Pro. Lousy culture, lousy people, management sucks, benefits suck, the Avery family is hoity toity.
