Great people. They let you fly and give you a plethora of tools. Deeply rooted in the community.

Lack of work from home.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate your feedback! I agree – JVB does have great people! Our best asset hands down! Management sincerely strives to thoroughly train all employees and provide the necessary tools to get everyone where they need to be. And, once someone knows what he/she is doing, it is easy not to micromanage and “let you fly!” I also appreciate the feedback on the working from home. Times are changing and we are continuing to evaluate these options while doing our best to be equitable to all employees. Thank you again for your feedback! Sincerely, Tina Smith Human Resources

Pros

Good work environment, small community bank is growing into a leader in providing excellent up-to-date services, and becoming more socially aware.

Cons

Working at a small Community bank means there are too few Human Resources to adequately serve the needs of the company.

First, let me apologize for the lag in response time from when you submitted your review years ago. We recently activated our Glassdoor Account and are now able to respond. I am sorry we didn’t get an opportunity to do so sooner! Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It is always valuable for us to hear what our people think we are doing well and what we could do better! As you stated, small community banks do indeed have many challenges with each person often being asked to “wear many hats” and pull together as a team in order to be fiscally responsible for our shareholders. Of course, there are very much pros to working in a community bank too such as having a big, very caring, family-like culture not only among our folks internally but also our customers, which I hope you truly experienced! I know this review is from a few years ago, and to your point, we truly have become a leader “in providing excellent up-to-date services and becoming more socially aware” and are continuing to do so. We are currently going through some exciting changes in expanding our products and marketing efforts to include more of a digital and online presence. Feel free to reach out anytime or check out the website for details! Thank you again for your reply. Sincerely, Tina Smith Human Resources

Pros

There are lots of good things about JVB- benefits are really extremely solid, the bank uses good, ethical banking practices, everybody knows each other, true community feel, upper management knows your name, and the list could continue. The level of internal politics is not too bad, but does vary from department to department.

Cons

Growth opportunities are extremely limited for most employees. This is partially due perhaps to the low turnover rate at JVB. Favoritism seems to exist when opportunities do come up.

Please allow me to first apologize for the lag in response time from when you submitted your review years ago. We recently activated our Glassdoor Account and are now able to respond. I am sorry we didn’t get an opportunity to do so sooner! Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We love to hear feedback on what people who spent quite a few years with us think of their time here! With regard to your cons, I am sorry to hear you found there to be internal politics in some departments as well as favoritism. Even though this review is from a few years ago, I would still very much welcome the opportunity to discuss this further so I can ensure this does not occur going forward. If you are willing to discuss further, please reach out to me at tina.smith@jvbonline.com, and we can connect. I am also appreciative of your positive remarks! We truly strive to provide an environment where employees know how valuable they are and are rewarded as such through our performance evaluation process, our Employee Annual Incentive Program, our Paid Time Off, our comprehensive health and retirement programs, etc. Over the past couple years, we have received feedback on our training programs, and I am pleased to report that last year, we did more training than ever before and are continuing to build bench strength and work toward growing our greatest asset, our people! Thank you again for your feedback. Sincerely, Tina Smith Human Resources
