Pros
If you like stuff with the company logo, you'll have a ton of it. Lots of beautiful moments with wonderful kids.
Cons
High deductible health plan. No work/life balance. 8 hour school day where kids get one 15 minute recess. Large class sizes. Micromanaging is the only kind of managing. Encouraged/required to work through your preps. Must teach exactly their way. Lots of branded swag but low pay. Diversity means they want people of different colors to come force themselves into their mold- they do not want actual diversity. Required classroom management techniques are cruel to students from certain protected groups. PD for 3 hours every week, one full day every month, one week in the summer (two for new teachers). Weekly classroom observations no matter how long you've been teaching followed by a weekly meeting with your manager during your prep where there will always be something you did wrong. Cliquish admins. Asking for help will be used against you. Encouraged to inform on coworkers. Outdated curriculum. This is a "work hard play hard" and "we're a family" place. Problems or difficulties you try to resolve will be put back on you and used against you. Not much diversity in admin. Lots of students that need more support than CN be provided. PTO blackout days, a lot of them. No subs, strange coverage plans that create resentment when people use PTO.
