Cons

I was working for kony for 3+ years in a Sr Technical position in their services org. Could not continue after I got married and life turned hell just because I was working there. Left the company, as that was the only option going forward. I felt the mother company treats the services arm with step-motherly treatment. As Kony services has to use pony's proprietary product services team s too dependent on the product team to get the know how. As its a mobile apps dev product the application development cycle is on average around 6 months. The product document is so bad that it can only be termed terrible. Training can only be termed at an initial level in maturity scale. So its only beneficial to freshers or developers with very less experience. At senior level you are left at lurch. If you have friends in the product team then you are good, else you are left with trials and errors, ask peers, raise support ticket which will lead to more time consuming effort and you would end up with less time for other stuff and invariably all services projects face a timeline crisis and in India office services team end up work long hours and also on most weekends. Product team behaves as if they are God and any issues if you try to point out in Product you would meet with some hidden consequences. On the surface everything may look good at times but that isn't the case most of the time. A not-so-good still-in-development half-baked product with too frequent updates doesn't help. Agree, in mobile space everything changes so fast but then nothing should stop from coming up with a good, tested product. Lack of feature is portrayed as that is the feature. Atleast for the services org tech folks it seems like it is only meant for individuals not married and no family or social life can survive. As there's is a proprietary product and you hardly have time to explore anything else during your tenure at kony, your kony experience could only help if you work in kony products in your next company. And given all the above , I don't think someone would like to have the same next couple of years as the last couple of nightmarish years at kony.

Pros

The employees are great. Most people are very smart and passionate about what they do. In the time I was there I never had any problem working with anyone in the company. Always someone to go to lunch with and lots of staff drinks after work (mostly organized by staff and not management) Good flexibility for work-life balance...for some people

Cons

- Disorganized. - Not diverse. - No support for career advancement/training/certification/education - Totally inconsistent with a lack of focus. Strategic direction seems to change every 6 months and it never makes complete sense. - Leadership is tone deaf to the market and is not willing to adapt. Stubbornness is why nothing is selling and the company is falling apart. - Top Leadership doesn't engage with employees unless they feel like they have to. - HR is beyond useless and gossips about EVERYONE. There is no confidentiality in HR. - Lots of recent turnover with long time employees because of messed up operations and managers egos. - LOTS of people have left to go work for the founder of Kony at his new company, or they left to go back to their old jobs. - TERRIBLE operations. Travel policy is crazy!!! Some people can't afford to come out of pocekt and be reimbursed for almost everything. $7k in expenses for travel is ridiculous!
