Pros
- Pay is good, benefits are great - Getting paid overtime is awesome - Free soda - Work is fast paced and you're allowed a fair amount of autonomy - High quality team of engineers to work with - Colorado Springs is a beautiful location
Cons
- HUGE variability in experience, depending on which department/location you're in, and which customer you're working with. - Kratos develops software for the government and other defense contractors. Their bread & butter is one-off custom products. They talk big about COTS products, but it's very rare that they sell something that isn't customized. The end result is that their products are medium/low quality, and medium/low quality products are less fun to work with. - The project teams have very little time to develop good requirements with the customer, and then spend months and years on the back end making up for building on a flawed foundation - As others have noted, they do lay people off to make ends meet at the end of the year, and then open a bunch of job req's the next year
