Pros

-Kind coworkers that will go above and beyond to help you. -Occasional samples and free food -Discount on Kroger Products -Multiple Union stewards in every department.

Cons

-Constantly understaffed. -High turnover rate caused by unfair working conditions and low compensation. -Management and Kroger reps will purposely mislead you about your rights and privileges so you're forced to keep in constant contact with the union to get accurate info. -Way too much pressure on new hires to be good at the job way too quickly. -Machines and facilities will be broken for weeks and weeks until ecolab comes in and forces management to actually fix stuff. -Management Constantly expects you to do the work of 2-5 people. -Management expects you to work through your whole 8 hour shift with no break if its too busy. The problem being that if they simply scheduled for their busy days this wouldn't have to happen. -Upper management will routinely come in the deli at the worst times when everyone is busy during a rush and request items that no one can grab for them and then they'll just stand their taking up space in the deli area which is already limited on space. -Compensation for the work is far too low. They offer $14.25 starting pay for a job that is easily worth $16-$18 an hour considering the amount of work you're having to do every shift. -I personally got baited and switch during my interview, I didn't apply for the Deli position in the first place but hr essentially told me that I either take the deli position or nothing at all. -Hr would Constantly contradict what union reps and stewards would say. -Management is clearly unaware of what is happening ever and consistently do thing in a disorganized and unprofessional manner. -Management will call you in on your off day with no regard for your life or plans. -You learn very quickly that the union ,while very appreciated, isn't their to get you any special benefits, they're there because kroger would pay you 50 cents an hour if they could get away with it so unfortunately they need a union to hold them accountable.

Pros

Very little contact with customers. Night premium. Small discount on store brand items.

Cons

Extremely low pay. Insurance isn't available until after your first year. Head store manager has no people skills, a very bad attitude and is blinded by personal ambition. This infects the entire store with a glum, sour tone. In general, clerks and associates have a very bad attitude.
