Pretty lenient schedule wise (when aptly staffed).
Cons
Margins are so tight that it feels impossible to even maintain conditions. Turn over is so high due, if able to hire at all, because employees are not paid enough for the amount of work they are expected to do. While the skills are easy to pick up, because they are expected to be easy skills, the amount of labor for the task associated is abhorrent. Being a 'manager' is really just a salary employee who is incentivized by employment to work over for barely living wages. Also, at least in KY, the minimum is 45 to 50 hours a week, so the already horrid salary is actually worth less. The upper management staff is brutally unforgiving. They are likely to fire on a whim, with no regard to the difficulty their industrial engineers have placed on the staff. In order to maintain to barely standard, you are expected to give your free time up to graze expectations. Kroger is a torturous employer. They have no kindship to their staff and only see them as cattle to slaughter for a slight increase in stock-holder complacency. I understand that people need to work, but so does Kroger, and they hang the fear over people's heads like a guillotine. Do not recommend. 1 star.
