Pros

My boss is amazing, some of the aides are amazing

Cons

The "big wigs" that make the big bucks and don't get their hands dirty, useless employees; the pay for the aides is terrible. You cannot expect $15/hr work ethic when you pay $9/hr. These people are collecting unemployment, they apply, get an interview, just so they can say they are looking and can keep collecting that money. But we, in the office, are held accountable for staffing. We can't drag them in by the head of their hair and make them work. We can't force the current aides to work. If we don't have the staff, we can't fill the hours. But it's our fault. Yet we don't have computers in the office to provide the online training during orientation. I am having to bring in my personal laptop for new hires to do so. Now we have to start providing CPR training in office, but you want us to call each aide every hour on the hour if they aren't clocked in to find out why. You want us to call applicants and hire and do orientation and everything more quickly, but it takes weeks sometimes to get a background check back. Not our fault. But we are held accountable. Where are we supposed to find the time in the day? How are we supposed to make all these things happen that are out of our control?

Pros

Autonomy, days go by quick, expectations are defined.

Cons

Unmanageable workload/cases. Expected to fulfill number of points per week. Charting beyond business hours every day. Start of care visits also included hands on care. One visit took 3 hours because of 8 wounds and that didn’t include documentation. Oasis is tedious and comprehensive. Territory was supposed to be 10 minutes from home; it was not. Sometimes 45 minutes between each case with 5-6 cases for the day. Totally unmanageable for a seasoned and organized nurse. I cannot imagine how it would be for a less experienced nurse. Overworked and overwhelmed my entire time. I learned a lot from training modules but then you’re out on your own to troubleshoot. Unless you’re willing to hustle every single day and are willing to chart during dinner time and then still take time to confirm next day’s appointments, stay away.
