Pros

- I have had a lot of opportunities for growth at LIDP. When I started, I was doing a lot of the same thing, but as I became more acquainted with the system, I was given more responsibilities and more in-depth tasks to work on. - People are amazing at giving constructive feedback. They are always ready to help people with questions and when they have notes, they are always presented with kindness. - Management is flexible with my schedule, especially because I work part-time. - Remote work, which is great for flexibility while still maintaining healthy team communication. - Organized. I have really enjoyed my time working at LIDP and it has helped me grow as a programmer, team member, and individual. The people are all very kind and amazing and thoroughly I enjoy the work that I am doing!

Cons

- There is not much communication between teams so it takes a bit longer to find answers to questions. It can be inconvenient but definitely not impossible to work around.

Pros

I've learned an incredible amount of software development skills from LIDP and feel grateful to work on a project that involves a new part of the system almost every week. I enjoy the challenge of translating projects from the COBOL system and then determining how to implement the code in Java, Spring, and Microsoft SQL Server. The translation is the easy part, but figuring out the testing documentation and debugging the code I've written is where it gets interesting. It's not always easy, but I've appreciated all the friendly support and collaboration I've received along the way. The company has greatly improved its processes for how projects are tested, tracked, and released since I began at LIDP. This has been critical in ensuring that no conflicts occur when multiple clients have different priorities, and it has helped prevent emergencies from arising. Communication with clients about project priorities has also improved, with more emphasis placed on doing projects right the first time instead of rushing them. As a result, there has been less stress, and I’m not working as many late nights and weekends. I also enjoy working full-time remote, and creating a flexible schedule for myself. The company offers great benefits with a 401K, health, dental, mental health counselling sessions with Nivati, WellHub, and many others.

Cons

Some of the estimates related to lines of code per sprint can be a bit ambitious, but I believe management understands that thorough testing and quality documentation are much more important. It's better to fall short of the quota than to rush the projects. Sometimes, striking a balance between writing as many lines of code as possible and providing thorough documentation can be tricky, because scope creep can occur on larger projects.
