Nepotism- There are is lot of hiring family members by the upper managment, even if they are unqualified.
Worklife balance- not much here. It is a 9-5 job. The schedule is inflexible and there is no WFH.
Application- The Titanium application that they developed looks like it was written by 10 year olds. It is slow and insecure and it has a primitive swing user interface. Most of the developers there are cobol programmer that don’t know java so they end of writing code that is slow and doesn’t follow conventions. A deterministic programmer can probably easily hack the app if he wanted to.
Tools- they don’t offer much here. They don’t use the latest and the greatest. They give you an old pc with linux installed on it. It is pretty slow. Not sure why they can’t afford windows licenses. The computers they work with are so slow, they freeze which scrolling up and down a file. It also takes 5 minutes to build the app each time which makes development frustrating. The monitors have low resolution. They use obsolete technology. They are still using swing. You only have to option of using eclipse. When I asked for an intellij license, they told me to use the community edition which not only violates jetbrains rules, but doesn’t give you all the features.
Benefits- The 401k doesn’t match much and the insurance is expensive. They only give 2 weeks pto every year.
