Pros

LIDP provides education and the ability to grow within your department. All management including the CEO have an open door policy. I feel comfortable asking for help from anyone. I continue to grow in my knowledge and abilities with LIDP. This company has long standing success with all of its customers and nearly all employees have been with the company for 10, 20 or even 30 years. I think that says a lot about the management and ownership. I hope to be here for that long one day too.

Cons

I don't have any real cons at this time.

Pros

one that I can think of. They have an office if that counts

Cons

Nepotism- There are is lot of hiring family members by the upper managment, even if they are unqualified. Worklife balance- not much here. It is a 9-5 job. The schedule is inflexible and there is no WFH. Application- The Titanium application that they developed looks like it was written by 10 year olds. It is slow and insecure and it has a primitive swing user interface. Most of the developers there are cobol programmer that don’t know java so they end of writing code that is slow and doesn’t follow conventions. A deterministic programmer can probably easily hack the app if he wanted to. Tools- they don’t offer much here. They don’t use the latest and the greatest. They give you an old pc with linux installed on it. It is pretty slow. Not sure why they can’t afford windows licenses. The computers they work with are so slow, they freeze which scrolling up and down a file. It also takes 5 minutes to build the app each time which makes development frustrating. The monitors have low resolution. They use obsolete technology. They are still using swing. You only have to option of using eclipse. When I asked for an intellij license, they told me to use the community edition which not only violates jetbrains rules, but doesn’t give you all the features. Benefits- The 401k doesn’t match much and the insurance is expensive. They only give 2 weeks pto every year.

At LIDP we strive to give our team member all the flexibility they need to be both a successful employee and a successful member of society. We highly recommend reaching out to your supervisor and letting them know when you need to adjust your schedule. If you don’t ask, we don’t know! As for the advice here, I would encourage one to speak to our customers on how much they like our award-winning solutions.

Pros

There are a few nice folks that work here. They have free coffee.

Cons

This folks clearly do not know how to program. This is what happens when you take old, incompetent cobol programmers and turn them in to java developers. The application that they wrote is a disgrace to all java developers. They try to write their java code like it is cobol code. It doesn’t take advantage of all the features java has to offer. They don’t know object oriented programming. They don’t know java design patterns. They have like 50,000 classes is in their application and not a single interface. They write procedural code using java. That defeats the purpose of java. If you like writing clean, readable code, I suggest not working here. This is the kind of place you would work at after you realized you have no place to go in life and have exhausted all options.

LIDP has been around since 1979; we have evolved over the years. Our solutions The Administrator Classic Edition (COBOL) and The Administrator Titanium Edition (JEE) are award-winning solutions within the PAS arena. LIDP is the only company that provides a solution that has a 100% success rate. I fear if we didn’t write our code properly we wouldn’t be keeping customers for as long as we have. We continue to advance our knowledge of technology and implement these best practices. As such LIDP is experiencing a high rate of growth and our future is bright.
