Pros
LSI is a company where you can make a difference and where your efforts are recognized and appreciated. While like any company there are difficulties in working at LSI, overall the people in the company want to be there and make the effort to support you and help you to get your job done. The fact that the employee turnover rate is quite low is I feel a positive testament to how LSI treats its employees and the desirability to work for LSI. LSI makes an effort to work with employees that are having dificulties in their life and provides some guidance and support in those cases. This of course has to be limited but they simply don't toss people out the door when they are struggling. They do try and give the employee a chance to work things out. All managers in all companies are weasels which is why they were made managers but LSI's weasles are pretty nice ones on the average. The products that LSI has and its customers are some of the best ones in the world. Nothing makes life more fun than coming to work and getting to work with good products and good customers. Can the products be better? Of course, but that's why you come in to work each day to make things better.
Cons
The company is in the process of change which can be upsetting and disruptive and for some such as those that worked in the hardware manufacturing part of the company even worse. But, with change comes opportunity and the chance to make a difference. Because LSI is made up of various acquisitions there are a lot of firewalls and barriers to communication within the company and many if not most divisions work with little interaction with other divisions especially at the low to mid levels of the company. Some acquisitions still operate as if they are a seperate company and this is resulting in some missed opportunities which were the main reason for the aquisition in the first place. Communication in any company is critical to its long term viability and LSI needs to do some major work in this area.
