Pros
rewardStyle can be a very fun place to work. Amazing people, parties, happy hours.... we know how to socialize. The founders created a remarkable culture.
Cons
As fun as the culture is here, it can also be really depressing at times. 4 engineering managers and 1 product director quit in Q1 2019. One senior leader lost the 3 managers that he started with, and I have to wonder if its due to him hiring his friends as managers? He can talk the talk, but he can't seem to walk the walk. Another senior leader lost both of his directors in Q1. He lost another director in 2018. Some software engineers have quit, too. It sounds like we're hiring contractors now. Around 20 of our software engineers and program managers quit last year. It's depressing to see so many of my friends leave when I know it could have been prevented. We're doing a lot of busy work, writing things that are available in established, well maintained and skillfully coded open source projects. Our architects and VPs seems a tad obtuse, and I've started to wonder if they have personal agendas vs organizational goals. Or if they're just bad at what they do. I'm trying to assume positive intent. The agile coaching spectacle is, well, a spectacle. Like, we're not succeeding because we don't have enough process?
