Cons

What was once my dream company has turned into a nightmare. For the past two years, leadership has been fully aware that a competitor is actively taking business from them on every front. Despite repeated escalations…even at the executive level. They’ve chosen to write it off and continue with a “business as usual” mindset, as they truly believe threats don’t exist. In fact, they actually laughed in my face when I told them the competitor was surpassing their offerings. I’ve done everything in my power to strengthen our marketing and help fight these competitive threats. Time and again, ideas are denied, watered down, or dismissed altogether. Directors often take credit for their employees’ work to gain recognition and overshadow the very people driving the progress to climb the ladder. Talented people are treated like interns. The innovation exists, but leadership refuses to listen. Even the most basic improvements (such as updating the brand website) which has been outdated for years, are met with nitpicking, politics, and decisions that make things worse, not better. Every simple solution turns into an uphill battle. Beyond the complacency, the company culture is the most toxic I’ve ever experienced. Public humiliation, aggressive and racist leadership, and manufactured "emergencies" have created an environment where talent is burned out and ignored. When toxic leaders are reported to HR multiple times by cross-team members, no action or accountability is taken. It’s clear they’re more focused on selling the business than preserving the people who built it. What’s even more frustrating is that the tenured employees who have been there for 10+ years are the ones calling the shots. Their outdated perspectives consistently outweigh those of experienced, high-performing employees who bring fresh thinking from the real corporate world. It doesn’t matter how strong your ideas are or how much industry expertise you bring… if you’re not part of the inner circle or been there for a decade, your voice is rarely heard. Recent layoffs made this even more apparent. It was especially disheartening to see how many pregnant employees were impacted… at a company that’s majority female. People were laid off at 6 months and even 8 months pregnant, and others while actively on paternity leave. The workload then falls on the few who remain, already stretched thin, with no plans to backfill. Morale is at an all-time low. To make matters worse, LTK offers some of the lowest pay in the market while claiming otherwise, citing “internal research” they refuse to share. Even after being awarded in a company-wide meeting for my contributions, there was no hope of career advancement or pay growth. Leadership simply doesn’t fight for the talent they’ll one day be desperate to replace. I gave this role everything I had. I truly believed in LTK before joining. Unfortunately, my dream company became my worst nightmare. Sometimes, chasing your dream company will only ruin the dream… and leave you questioning what you ever saw in it to begin with.

Pros

- Used to be a really cool place with innovative, forward-thinking people everywhere. (A lot of the pros are "used" to be"] - There's room to get to know the people you're working with - Good brand recognition - Sometimes people have good ideas you can run with

Cons

Everything about the company now vs. 2-3 years ago is different and in a bad way. Everything is so very disjointed. Decisions are reactive and completely not thought through - they're also being made by tech bros who are simply not the target audience of this brand. They are out of touch and it's ripped the passion and potential right out of the business. Everyone feels like glorified taskhorses. No legit appreciation is given to anyone. All the things that used to make LTK great are no longer and, sadly, that probably means that ShopMy will absolutely run them into the ground. So much potential here which has been disappointing to watch disappear. Senior leadership ahs absolutely no idea what they are doing and they keep throwing things at the wall.
