Pros

La-Z-Boy in general has a culture of kindness. I think the employees are what really distinguish this business from others. The training process takes several months due to the multitude of products offered. There is opportunity for growth, and working your way up and learning is encouraged. This has been a really wonderful place to work for a long time and I do absolutely love everybody I work with and have worked with. It is truly a family environment and a comfortable environment.

Cons

This job is fun but it is very high stress. It is difficult to maintain a work-life balance. It is stressful to even be on vacation because you barely make anything when you're out of the store. There is a clear disconnect between employees working in the stores and the higher up management, which is common in any corporation. It seems, though, that this gap has been growing. Salary is very low (10K a YEAR) meaning your pay is based on commissions and store hitting goals. However, the goals are set very high so it is hard. It is hard to keep employees. It seems that the pay structure is ever-changing, and not always in salaried employees' favors. Unfortunately, with the goals set so high, many stores do everything they can and still don't get that bonus which would make up the bulk of their pay. This has caused for many really wonderful and talented individuals to leave the company, and many more considering doing so. It seems like where the company loses money most, would be the turnover. We are constantly paying to train people who end up leaving due to pay structure. I am all for getting paid for the work you do, so I do not want to hear that "if you just work harder, just hit your goals, you will be fine." because it is not realistic in many stores. So the work we do does not seem to equate. It seems like some of the bigger problems are not addressed and I feel like the higher ups are not even aware of them. The higher-ups seem to have a mentality of "you are replaceable" when after working with these people, they really aren't. And they are not being replaced. They are being lost much faster than new people can be hired and trained. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. We are expected to do more, better, quicker. We also have to compensate customers often when issues outside of our control occur--damage on delivery, delay in manufacturing, etc. This would not be an issue except that this comes out of OUR paychecks working on commission...

Pros

Easy selling environment due to intense brand loyalty and quality Depending on location, good schedule (relative to other companies of it’s kind) Customers are (typically) older and therefore more established/have higher income.

Cons

Pay is not sustainable. The commission structure is very company friendly and not very salesperson friendly. With all metrics being met… you’re looking at roughly 55-60k a year. Not enough in today’s day and age. Sales are often very confusing and not easy to explain, OR are very simple. Pick one.
