Bad communication, did not care about staff - Anonymous employee Lassens Natural Foods Employee Review

Took over our business and said they wanted to keep everyone. The first couple months went ok, but were slow to communicate about benefits and how raises/reviews worked. Some people started union talks and immediately the management was all about communication and the employees and wanting to make them happy. The Union vote passed in favor of unionizing and all the promises made during the process seemed to be forgotten and suddenly they were laying off 30% of the staff and had been planning to do that since they took over ownership even though at the beginning they said they wanted to keep everyone.
