Pros
The mission of the company brings people together who truly care about making an impact in the lives of individuals who are Blind, DeafBlind and blind with other disabilities. Since starting with The Lighthouse almost 3 years ago, I have witnessed many conversations that have resulted in improvements to benefits, onboarding processes, and the employee experience as a whole. The HR Team works tirelessly to respond to issues and to make improvements. The CEO, and management team truly care about it's team members and there is an atmosphere of teamwork and open communication throughout the company. The Workforce Development Manager role was added as a new role in 2022 and I've seen very positive results from this addition to the team. Team members who are blind have an opportunity for 1:1 meetings to explore career choices and workshops and trainings are offered to cover important career topics. There is a lot that The Lighthouse is doing right.
Cons
With limited budgets, ongoing industry challenges, and program restrictions, sometimes it can be difficult to make all the desired improvements required to keep high employee satisfaction while also helping employees to understand the reason behind some decisions. However, The Lighthouse does very well with doing what it can do with what it has.
