Pros

As many others have said, you cannot beat MITRE’s work-life balance and benefits. Some assignments are better than others but you can manage to move around over time and find a good niche. People are generally respectful and it is a great place to land if you need a break from a hectic for-profit corporate environment. Among the staff, there is a strong sense of altruism and desire to help the government.

Cons

Advancement and promotions can be painfully slow. Inbred management would rather be doing PowerPoint engineering or talking about the engineering stuff they did years ago. You can lose your edge if you hang around too long.

Pros

One of the most significant advantages of my time is the opportunity to collaborate with an exceptional team.

Cons

Toxic Environment the overall workplace culture and leadership styles are fundamentally toxic, creating a stressful atmosphere. Ineffective Leadership: Senior executives lack commercial business acumen, resulting in poor strategic direction and operational inefficiencies. Zero Job Security: The organization demonstrates minimal loyalty to staff, with a constant threat of sudden, unexpected terminations because of the previous CEO Jason Providakes making the company go almost bankrupt and then they decided to get rid of an extreme amount of employees and firing phenomenal employees who did not want to get covid vaccines. Tooooo many VP's that take more annual bonuses than they should and leaving the company with scraps. Bureaucratic Overhead: Daily operations prioritize administrative paper-pushing and PowerPoint creation over meaningful innovation. Below-Market Pay!! critical security vulnerability and leadership failure at the San Diego Liberty Station facility. Following the replacement of our previous Facility Security Officer which the whole facility said it should of been the current fso to be let go the current FSO is consistently absent, leaving the site without necessary security oversight. Furthermore, this individual regularly engages in inappropriate, flirtatious conduct with visiting sponsors, which compromises our professional reputation and causes visible discomfort to external guests. Due to an unprofessional personal relationship with a coworker, the FSO also routinely fails to report to work or leaves early during core operational hours.
