Pros

Was able to learn a lot about Mac computers and what not to buy when it comes to a Mac.

Cons

Owners have no real direction of what they want to do. There is no clear communication between the 2 owners and even worse communication from them to the employees. The concept of what they are doing is an awesome one but how they go about doing it is far less than awesome. Their Facebook advertising is one of the sketchiest and most miss leading things I have ever heard of. There is no work life balance what so ever. They over work all of their employees and far under compensate them. Promises are made left and right and they are also not kept or flat out denied.

Mac Warehouse Response

I wholeheartedly agree with the title of this review, but not much else. We certainly are doing everything we can do to improve here in every aspect—both growing our business and doing our best to create and keep jobs for our employees. It’s a delicate balance, and we won’t always get it right, but we will definitely try and in most cases succeed. I care deeply about the image of this company that everyone has worked so hard to uplift, so it’s difficult to respond to these reviews. All I can say to anyone reading this is that there’s two sides to every coin. We have not been perfect—but we are getting better and actively trying to get better, which most of our employees can attest. This is the nature of all young companies, and the stress but also high potential reward is not for everyone. In the case of this employee, though we appreciate periods of hard work, the disorganization, hostility, attempts to sabotage other employees, and worst of all, video proof of inventory theft make it clear he was “not the right fit.” For any other prospective employees, here’s our response to some other listed concerns: Facebook advertising—First we’ve heard of this. Our advertising is pretty straight forward, when there’s a specific deal we’d like to highlight, we make an ad on Facebook. Store managers and corporate directors are heavily involved in choosing what to push. We’ve never made a dishonest ad or encouraged employees to be dishonest about it. Worklife balance—Retail is a different monster than the 9to5 with its own pros and cons. If there’s a failure here it’s being unclear on what retail hours entail to new employees. There will be periods where extra work is required, but we try to mitigate this by offering PTO to managers/assistant managers and increased pay. Under-compensation—By far the most dishonest piece in this review. We ensure to match and in most cases beat industry averages. And to compensate for the extra stress and hours, all retail employees are paid extra with bonus opportunities available. Again, we are not perfect, but no one can claim truly that we’re not trying to both grow our business but also keep our employees, well, employed (and happy, too).

Pros

Plenty of work to do, reasonable and attentive management and ownership, company is in a state of rapid growth meaning more opportunity to rise to more lucrative positions as the company hires into the entry-level. Occasional bonuses for hard-working employees. Lots of company events (potlucks, holiday parties, etc.) Compensation is very fair, and management is open to listen to any employee concerns. Contrary to prior review, there is in fact PTO, accrued 2 days per 3 months worked up to 8 days annually, available for use up to 1 year after accrual. Management/ownership works just as hard as staff does, and leads by example and not by command. Very friendly and helpful staff. Feels more like a big team than a workforce.

Cons

Feels very short-staffed at times. Company is making the transition from small to medium size, as well as the establishment of a new retail store; workforce has been stretched thin through the transition. Lots of pressure on employees to perform, as well as tighter margins of acceptable error. New systems are being developed to streamline operations and improve efficiency, which can be difficult for an entire workforce to adapt to (but will be beneficial long-term). No benefits (it is clearly explained as to why the company isn't providing benefits upon hire, and MW is working with an insurance agent to make sure every employee is informed and educated of their options).
