Pros

You are able to work from home

Cons

Teams had no clear picture on what anyone's responsibility was and cast blame on other groups, with management making no effort to step in and clarify. Essentially every HR process I had to follow up with repeatedly to get done after following the procedure listed in the handbook and never hearing anything. Most c suite positions are filled with Khans or there close personal friends, with the few that aren't following there lead and employing friends and family, so many paths for advancement are largely blocked. 2 of the 3 directors I worked under in less than a year had no idea what they were doing, with the most recent just presenting industry standard practices with no plan or idea for implementing any of it, talking about his connections he'd be utilizing in the future that never materialize for one reason or another. My experience with the year end review was being blamed for not proactively working around managements incompetence and being docked for not doing things that were never requested or within my job description. All of this led to an extremely high turnover (from both people quitting and getting fired) with anyone I interacted with through my role, while also leading to me being docked for not having cultivated more relationships at the year end review.

Pros

Makpar has a Generative Culture. This is very rare and precious. Employees are diverse and integrated. Innovation only comes with Psychological Safety. As Director of Agile, it is my job to keep Makpar the Best of the Best, moving forward at the speed of light into the Age of Augmentation.

Cons

There are none, except the health coverage, which is Cigna. Cigna is not accepted everywhere. I am working to get us back to United Heathcare.

Pros

(Truthfully, once you see behind the curtain, the “pros” fade fast.) At first, the company makes you feel like your part of a tight‑knit “family.” Some genuinely good people work there — but they rarely stay long. "The best places to work awards" are because the HR manager is married to the president and people who vote for it are related to a Khan.

Cons

Back‑channel conversations. No matter how loyal you are, they will talk behind your back and side with whoever is newest or loudest. If you are proactive, it will be a struggle. They thrive off of reactive chaos. Loyalty only goes one way. You can give everything, but the moment someone new comes in promising the world, they will drop you without hesitation. Chaotic, reactive environment. Constant disorganization, shifting priorities, and no real structure. Toxic family dynamics. Leadership is intertwined — the president and HR manager are married, the parents run the company, and decisions often feel personal rather than professional. False sense of security. They will tell you your job is safe, encourage you to vote them “Best Place to Work,” and then eliminate half the team shortly after. Blind trust in the wrong people. Leadership gives full control to individuals who raise red flags for everyone else, ignoring concerns until the damage is already done. Disposable culture. You can be high‑performing, dedicated, and deeply invested — but once you’re no longer convenient, you’re out. Finance leadership issues. Decisions driven by individuals who create instability rather than clarity. Emotional toll. You don’t realize how toxic it is until you leave and finally breathe again.
