Loyalty Is a One‑Way Street

Pros

(Truthfully, once you see behind the curtain, the “pros” fade fast.) At first, the company makes you feel like your part of a tight‑knit “family.” Some genuinely good people work there — but they rarely stay long. "The best places to work awards" are because the HR manager is married to the president and people who vote for it are related to a Khan.

Cons

Back‑channel conversations. No matter how loyal you are, they will talk behind your back and side with whoever is newest or loudest. If you are proactive, it will be a struggle. They thrive off of reactive chaos. Loyalty only goes one way. You can give everything, but the moment someone new comes in promising the world, they will drop you without hesitation. Chaotic, reactive environment. Constant disorganization, shifting priorities, and no real structure. Toxic family dynamics. Leadership is intertwined — the president and HR manager are married, the parents run the company, and decisions often feel personal rather than professional. False sense of security. They will tell you your job is safe, encourage you to vote them “Best Place to Work,” and then eliminate half the team shortly after. Blind trust in the wrong people. Leadership gives full control to individuals who raise red flags for everyone else, ignoring concerns until the damage is already done. Disposable culture. You can be high‑performing, dedicated, and deeply invested — but once you’re no longer convenient, you’re out. Finance leadership issues. Decisions driven by individuals who create instability rather than clarity. Emotional toll. You don’t realize how toxic it is until you leave and finally breathe again.
