Pros

Great pay Great benefits In general a low-acuity/highly compliant population Getting EPIC and a new hospital in 2 years My direct supervisors genuinely mean well and it’s not their fault, it’s their superiors, that this hospital is so crummy.

Cons

Terrible current charting system, old equipment EVERYONE is burnt out. It is probably the most negative culture I’ve ever worked with. Absolutely no team work. Staff is just so nasty and negative to one another. Physicians have absolutely no respect for staff. Management makes everything much more difficult than it has to be with dumb, asinine policies that make no sense. They just say “it’s a safety issue” and that apparently makes it all okay. All their systems are outdated and the staff in payroll/HR/staffing are nasty. They talk down to you like you’re an idiot for not understanding their barbaric systems and they will not work with you under any circumstances. For instance, I had a personal conflict with a scheduled shift. I tried to contact my scheduler about it. She ignored my emails, texts, etc. She eventually scheduled a meeting with her supervisor. In that meeting, the scheduled shows up at the end and will not switch me off that night, even though she had already given travel nurses that same week off. I was told to “just call out” because her “hands were tied” even though they were “so short” that night. This hospital is impossible to get to any other way than with a car. If your car isn’t working good luck getting there. If you’re stuck in traffic, good luck as well because they mark you late at 7:01. No exceptions. I read the reviews on here before I started, I said “oh it can’t be that bad.” Trust me guys it is.

Pros

revious director demonstrated strong empathy and support, creating an engaging and positive environment even during challenging periods. The department has a resilient, capable team that can adapt and thrive when leadership is supportive. Opportunities exist for employee pride and fulfillment if culture is prioritized again. HR processes have shown potential for effectiveness under strong leadership.

Cons

Leadership changes have significantly impacted job satisfaction and morale. The current HR Director is not effectively supporting employees, contributing to frustration and disengagement. Micromanagement, particularly during major initiatives like Workday implementation, has undermined autonomy, created uncertainty in roles, and eroded trust. Understaffing and systemic issues are compounded by repeated directives to "hang in there" without transparency on resources or realistic support, while workloads increase and leadership expresses disappointment in results.
