Pros

I had many great colleagues

Cons

I can’t imagine the recent positive reviews on this site for MediaMath are real. No one I know who works there feels that way. They are bleeding employees at a rapid rate. They haven’t given bonuses in over a year, and if you decide to leave and take your skillset elsewhere, they’ll try to sue you for your noncompete. They have done this to me and many others, and they will do it to you if you decide to leave for anyone they consider competitive. This is not a company who cares about you. This is a company in desperate times who is taking desperate measures.

Hi there, we appreciate your feedback and are glad you enjoyed working with your colleagues as well as our healthy work/life balance. We take pride in our people and strive to create an environment where we can all thrive, enjoy work, one another, and our lives outside of work. As far as your other comments, we take them seriously and would like to take a moment to address some of your concerns: 1) As policy, we never compel employees, current or former, to write reviews on Glassdoor. All reviews are genuine and left at the will of employees—yours included! 2) We’re in the midst of a transformation of our business, which is something we’re very excited about. However, as with most companies in transformation, attrition does generally rise. At the same time, many companies are experiencing unprecedented turnover as we emerge from the pandemic and employees are seeking change after a year of monotony at home. We’re also experiencing the other side of this flux, having hired over 100 positions this year, across levels, teams, regions, and departments, inclusive of bolstering our leadership team with experienced transformational leaders who are guiding us through this next phase in our growth. We are continuing to hire people who are excited about the industry, the opportunity, and the role they can play in it.... 3) 2020 was a challenging year for us as individuals, for our company, and for the broader macroeconomic environment. To protect our business and employees and ensure we can thrive on the other side of the global pandemic, we, along with countless other companies, took a conservative approach to bonuses, though we did pay a portion of bonuses to all employees in 2020. During this time, we also paid commissions in full and we’ve shown our appreciation for outstanding performance through spot bonuses, equity increases, and raises and promotions for 50% of our employees in 2021. As our business continues to gain momentum, we will be paying out the first part of our 2021 bonuses this summer! We are immensely grateful for the commitment, work, and effort of our employees over this past year and all the years prior. 4) At MediaMath, we’re only as strong as our people! And while our employees are working at MediaMath, they will often become acquainted with proprietary information, information that our competitors would love to get their hands on. For this reason, it’s standard business practice to have non-compete clauses and other post termination restrictions all of which are transparently outlined in our offer letters, agreements, and contracts upon joining. Non-competes are standard across industries and when employees take the knowledge they’ve acquired at MediaMath elsewhere, we review our mutual obligations to one another. Great companies must protect their intellectual property. We see this across companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft and countless other companies who started out small and grew in part because they protected their assets. And by doing so, they were able to grow their business and provide financial rewards to their employees. Our team is excited about our transformation and momentum. Part of that transformation is really honing in on our People processes and procedures to ensure we treat our employees equitably, that we all enjoy coming to work, and that we can learn and grow together. While we don’t always get it right 100%, we strive for continual improvement because we care a lot about the experience of all of our employees. Over the past 12 months, we’ve worked flexibly around the world to help our team maintain work-life balance throughout the pandemic, we’ve focused on mental health support systems, implemented global best practices to ensure successful remote and hybrid work environments as we return to “normal”, ensured that our salaries and benefits packages are more competitive in market, and heightened our focus on career journeys to provide long term career growth.. We thank you for your time with us. Please do reach out directly if you would like to discuss anything further!
