Pros
It feels good to be connected to a larger mission of improving clinical research. The starting pay was competitive for the market. The benefits are nice although unlimited PTO seems easiest to use in small chunks of time. There is a lot of flexibility to set your work hours around appointments, daycare, etc.
Cons
There's lots of talk about building better solutions, but reality yields an experience closer to whack-a-mole with legacy tech debt and constantly changing priorities. We don't spend enough time understanding our users. Our "new" solutions are based on existing customer requirements instead of being guided by a clear strategy. With too much to do and not enough resources we often go for quick fixes, incentivized by getting better metrics for our year-end goals. My team has taken changes to their job functions in stride, but if we continue to only follow where the wind blows they may jump ship—especially considering our raises were around 2.5% despite "excellent performance" with 15% software revenue growth in 2022.
