Pros
You receive immediate and valuable training from day one to hit the ground running. This is especially beneficial straight out of college or with a change in career path/industry. You are also assigned a high tech/software client from the onset. Receiving this opportunity and connection to a potential employer is incredible beneficial to jumpstart your role. You are given hands on experience right out of the gate. The competitive environment and close-knit team under thoughtful management is key to your success. This allows you to learn quickly and from real-world interactions. The support you receive from everyone is truly remarkable, everyone seems to want to help you win just as much as themselves.
Cons
Generally speaking, the role of an SDR is tough, can often be viewed as brutal and should not be the for the faint of heart. With that being said, if you are motivated to do well and constantly improve yourself, these aspects of the role can only make you stand out from the pack even more. The pay is low but but that’s typical for the role. You have to earn yourself the path to make the money you want. Each client is different so your situation may be different from the rest, yet there is still a broad umbrella cast over you for what to do and how to handle your work. This can be frustrating since not everyone is in the same situation. It’s quite competitive, the prior point can also make competition seem unfair. If you get hung up on this instead of finding ways to be better, you’ll fall behind. Keep your mind right, grind, and don’t get too comfortable…the SDR market can be oversaturated in some ways.
