Pros

The department itself usually has a lot of flexibility with schedules and you can work 8 or 10 hour shifts. There is additional pay for the times or days you work. Extra $1 for weekends, $1.45 for 2:30-11pm, and $3 for overnight shifts. There is an 8% raise after 90 days, and additional 5% when you get certified. Overtime is pretty hefty as it is 1.5x base pay + additional amount, known as incentive pay, that has ranged between $5-20 per hour. Picking up extra shifts are almost always available.

Cons

The pay is not that great for some of the work you have to do. The "training" for the position is more or less learning from mistakes, when people catch them. The job is very repetitive and boring once you learn everything. Some days you can be on your feet for over 8 hours straight. The hospital as a whole is very understaffed for the amount of work that is expected by employees.
