Pros

Team oriented. Benefits are great. Great for those who enjoy paperwork and limited direct client engagement. Upper management is kind and understanding. Ability to work from home during COVID and no home visits for the time being. Flexible PTO. Casual work environment and overall encouraging. Pay is good especially with mileage reimbursement and bonuses. Company engagement is encouraged and there are opportunities to join clubs or volunteer. Flexible with schedule, especially if you are pursuing higher education. Overall solid entry-level position and one you can learn a lot in.

Cons

High caseloads lead to burn out. My highest was close to 80 clients including coverage. Normal caseload is within 50-60 individuals. Communication and frequently changing guidelines within Hennepin County make the job hard at times. Audits are tedious. When you receive cases they are often very incomplete from previous case managers. 24-hour call back rule within the company is ridiculous especially when your caseload numbers are high. A handful of your caseload will likely be located far away even if you're assigned a metro county (5+ hours) and this isn’t notified to those interested in the position until after they have accepted. Turn over can be high at times which leads to an increase of coverage. Upper management can be cliquey at times but this got better during my time at the agency. Agency allows non-licensed individuals within the case management role (they used to require an LSW) but now allow BAs in psych and other human services fields to complete LSW level work.
