Pros

- Since the company is desperately in need of new engineers you can negotiate a good compensation. - Good people are still working there (they just don't define the future of the company). - The building is in the center of downtown which is awesome and they pay your parking.

Cons

First of all, disregard any pre-2016 reviews, this is a different company now. The name and the building are the same, the content has completely changed. The new CEO appeared from nowhere and built an entirely new executive team based exclusively on personal loyalty and pushed aside all other employees regardless of their experience and value for the company. As a result, the company has lost a major part of its engineering team and cannot maintain its product properly. It is hardly going to work out because the executive team has no idea how to run a software company. Also: - Favortism. - You can be fired in one day even if you have been working for the company 10+ years. - Has imminent failure due to lack of good products.

Pros

The work environment is a great place to learn the basics of a company's operations and working in an office. The internship was very helpful in developing my professional communication skills and comfortability within an office space. The hours were very flexible and the pay was good. Good learning space for interns and questions are encouraged. I was able to collaborate with almost every department of the company for a well-rounded learning experience.

Cons

It is right in the downtown Iowa City area, so I ended up eating out a lot at the local restaurants.

Pros

I'm a long-time former employee, and had I not decided to pursue my passions outside the software industry I would very likely be back at MetaCommunications. I've seen how a lot of companies function, and have owned/operated my own business as well. And from that perspective I can say MetaCommunications is a great place to work. Sure...they had some growing pains in the early years, but what company doesn't?

Cons

I don't really have any Cons...but maybe a word of advice. If you have the drive and desire, and want the opportunity to become the best at what you do - whether it's programming, support, professional services, sales, marketing, or whatever - then MetaCommunications is a fantastic environment. If you want to become a true professional in your career, MetaCommunications is the place for you. If you are simply looking for a "job" where you come to work, put your time in, and nothing further with no real true ambitions or desires, then MetaCommunications may not be for you. And I say that for both your and the company's benefit. Seriously - look inside yourself, do some soul searching, and ask yourself what it is you really want to achieve in your professional career - if you have the inner passion, drive, and desire, then MetaCommunications will help you achieve it.
