Pros
My co-workers were laid back and mostly fellow artists. It was interesting talking to people with an eclectic background of art and design. The employee discount is useful if you're an artist.
Cons
I worked in the frame shop and was expected to reach an unrealistic sales goal every week. This was a part-time position and I usually worked weekday evenings and some weekends. I simply didn't have the customers to meet the goals during odd hours but it was still my fault according to management. They would call me into the office every few weeks and ask if I didn't understand the techniques they stressed in order to squeeze $250.00 framing designs out of little old ladies with embroidered napkins. I was constantly stressed over meeting the status quo and guilty at the same time over feeling like I was scamming nice people. On top of this they expected me to assemble a weekly quota of frames and also drop everything and help everyone on the sales floor if the store got really busy. I was never properly trained to use the scanner guns or have a full knowledge of the store merchandise. Overall this is a retail position for a large corporation, so what did I expect?
