Managers have very poor skills, and are promoted based on who they know and are close with. They are usually only in it to make themselves look good and take credit from their techs work/ingenuity. There are also many with low morals, as in lying about doing QA checks for example not even getting out of their vehicle and docking points on your work anyway. You are allowed to take on more work/learn more but you have consistently bother them to even allow you to do so and even then they may not because "There are people who have worked here longer than you that need to do this training" Even though those people don't want the training because with more responsibilities you do not get an increase in pay and you're expected to do more than those who don't want to learn more with zero added benefits to being a good employee. Yearly bonuses are given out by how liked you are not by the quality of work.
