Pros

My staff at my clinic are the bright spot

Cons

I’ve been with this company for three years, and unfortunately it has been one of the most stressful and unsupported work environments I’ve experienced. As a Clinic Manager, you are often expected to function as the front desk, lead conversion specialist, salesperson, scheduler, customer service representative, refund coordinator, cleaner, and primary point of contact for all prospective and current clients, often while being the only employee physically present in the clinic. The workload is simply not realistic for one person. KPIs are frequently set without consideration for staffing realities. Employees are measured on metrics that are often outside of their control, such as consultation show rates. These metrics can directly impact job security despite being heavily influenced by factors the employee cannot control. The company is constantly changing systems, processes, schedules, and expectations. It creates an environment where employees are always trying to adapt to the latest pilot program or operational change instead of focusing on providing excellent client care. In my market, we have repeatedly struggled to maintain permanent Providers because compensation is not competitive enough. As a result, we rely heavily on traveling staff who are often stretched thin themselves. This creates treatment delays, frustrated clients, and additional pressure on clinic teams. Work-life balance has steadily deteriorated. Corporate schedule changes are often implemented with little regard for the realities of employees’ personal lives. The recent shift to 7:30 a.m. start times, including Saturdays, has created significant hardship for employees with children and childcare responsibilities. Despite ongoing feedback from field employees regarding burnout, staffing concerns, and scheduling challenges, those concerns often feel unheard. The most frustrating part is that this company has the potential to be great. The clients are wonderful and deserve better than chronically understaffed clinics and long waits for appointments. Frontline employees are doing everything they can to keep clinics running while managing increasing workloads and mounting client frustration. Instead, employees are often left feeling overworked, underpaid, unsupported, and blamed for issues created by larger operational decisions. Burnout is common, turnover is high, and morale continues to suffer. I would strongly encourage anyone considering employment here to carefully evaluate whether the compensation and expectations are aligned with the level of responsibility required.

Pros

Working at Milan was most enjoyable when you had a strong, supportive team. The relationships with coworkers made the days fun, and I really enjoyed the consultative side of sales—getting to know clients, helping them feel more confident, and being part of their journey. It was rewarding to build genuine connections while working for a company with a strong brand and quality service.

Cons

Just about everything else :( The lack of support from upper management was the biggest challenge. Our Regional Sales Manager was responsible for too many clinics, which made it difficult to receive the guidance and support our team needed. When our Clinic Manager went on maternity leave, I was expected to take on many of those responsibilities with little direction or assistance. After she decided not to return, I wasn't even given the opportunity to interview for the Clinic Manager position despite stepping up during that transition. The experience left me feeling undervalued, unsupported, and overlooked, especially after the additional responsibilities I had taken on.
