Pros

The staff that worked with me at the time was like family

Cons

Literally everything else. There are no opportunities for growth in this job. You don't get to move up in the company if you are a care navigator for the shelter and you don't get to advance your education. They make you pick between working for them and going to school. I was swindled into staying on the night shift for well over 7 months despite promises I would move to day shift because of excellent client care. Beware: Night shift gets blamed for EVERYTHING . Also on nights you work from 12am-8am and yet they still expect you to show up to the staff meeting in the middle of the day and get mad when your sleeping. The training was never consistent so I would be told I did things wrong all the time, but was never trained on the right way. You also have clients who easily engage in staff splitting. They hire anyone with a diploma, so those of us (like me) who had a code of ethics to live by (BSW) would practice proper client care while you had other employees breaking ethics and fraternizing with the shelter clients. Other staff would do favors for certain clients because they liked them while treating other clients like dirt. Nothing was consistent. Oh, also if you are done with your shift, you can't leave until the people on the next shift show up. So there were times where I would have to stay an hour after because the day shift woke up late.

Pros

Working for mile high has changed my life for the better management is very understanding when it comes to family and self-care. They are easy to talk with and when problems come up they act fast to find a solution.

Cons

Every job has cons....but the only con for mile high that I can think of is there is limited office space. :)

Pros

Meaningful work, amazing clients, and a strong team. My team was one of the best teams I have ever worked with. Most of the know what they're doing, and if they don't, they will go through the appropriate channels to figure it out. Obviously, the clients are always tough in community mental health, though my former clients and coworkers were the only reasons I stayed for as long as I did.

Cons

Management. To put it plainly, if you're not a favorite, prepare to be pushed to the side every single time. There are also significant pay disparities between programs without logical justification.
