Pros
As someone who just started my mental health practice in August, Mindful Therapy Group has been extremely supportive and instrumental in helping me transition from agency work to starting my own business. While contracting with Mindful Therapy Group involves bringing two separate businesses together, it feels like a cohesive, inclusive, and friendly environment with opportunities to become involved with admin and other providers if you seek that level of support. Also, it is extremely helpful to have such knowledgable individuals helping with learning the business-side of starting a practice. Mindful Therapy Group has a great reputation within the community, and thus I tend not to need to seek many referrals as the admin team help keep my schedule fairly full.
Cons
While not necessarily a con, it can feel extremely challenging to start your own practice. As I mentioned above, Mindful Therapy Group provides a lot of guidance and support for how to do this. But, if you are joining as part of starting your own practice directly from an employment relationships, there are differences that will require adjustment. You are your own boss, and that means you make the decisions and are responsible for keeping your practice running (but again, if you seek the support, MTG will help a lot with this!). While very helpful, starting a practice means learning how to run a business, and that's something a lot of providers don't get trained in when attending grad school. It is challenging, but not impossible by any means to be successful in your practice if you seek out the resources available to you.
