Pros

Provides 401k. Health insurance was good. Billing team mates were chill and very easy to get along with. IT was great and responsive. Private parking lot.

Cons

Was with the company for a bit over two years. Management forces the employees to write positive reviews on various websites- you have to post them in slack for approval prior to posting. Upper management was the worst. It was easier dealing with irate patients than management. Especially HR- who is ONE person. Biggest thing to remember: HR works for the company, not for you. Micromanagement to the extreme. Absolutely does NOT care about the mental health of their employees. With the high turn over rate, they pile on tasks to the remaining employees and expects you to get your work plus the work of others done. When I worked there, money was the name of the game. Rather than getting to research insurance denials or outstanding insurance payments, management had us working on client owed accounts with daily goals that ranged from $3,000-$8,000 to collect. Per day. Clients should pay their bill but the intense focus on that caused providers to wait several weeks to months for their claims to come back with reimbursement from the insurance companies. Management would then chew you out because of this despite not allowing billing to focus on that. The company exploded during the pandemic. Billing managers would tell the operation staff we needed more people but operations refused. This lead to a call log being made in excel. After a good three months, operations got to open their eyes for once and see that a five person team was being bombarded with calls. You couldn’t get work done when you’re on the phone every three minutes with ten minute plus conversations. Two more locations were opened but again they didn’t want to hire more people until operations felt they could give us peasants some type of assistance. Other companies have different teams/departments for billing but MTG didn’t. Billing was billing. They needed to have a team focused solely on insurance denials, accounts receivable, patient accounts, etc. For a company that wants feedback on how to enhance the work experience, they completely ignore suggestions and at times chides your suggestion in a most passive aggressive tone. Sick? Burned out? Pffft. “Do you know the burden you’re putting on the team requesting a day off?” Yeah. That was a direct quote. They don’t allow employees to exercise their rights to time off without guilt tripping. Hilariously underpaid. $17 when other companies are $25 and up. This is with the company bringing in millions per month. They finally gave paid holidays at the end of December 2021. No time and half pay when you had to work holidays. Billing leads would refuse to answer phone calls. They would go after you if they felt you didn’t answer a call quick enough or not at all despite you being on the phone when the last call came in. Biggest word of advice: write down the date and change of whatever task you’re doing. Screenshot it if it’s communicated via slack or email. Processes would change frequently and when you’re following the new process, management would throw a fit and tell you that’s NOT what you’re supposed to do. Despite being told a particular process was being changed to this or that during a meeting. Management doesn’t like to be held accountable. Don’t let them accuse you of things you didn’t do. Get your evidence and keep it. They don’t expect push back since employees operate on fear of being fired for any small thing. Lastly if you work at HQ, you may notice that the environment is some weird dystopian world that loves the company. You’re not imagining things. They expect you to live and breathe your job and expect you to be appreciative they gave you the opportunity to be their little worker bee, collecting honey for the hive. Individualism is scarce. Avoid this place. Especially if you value your mental health.

Pros

Super transparent about the entire process including costs, caseload ramp up, Mindful expectations and limitations right from the beginning! I have never felt pressured, micromanaged or taken advantage of in any way and in fact it is the opposite! I’ve felt like I have so much support, excellent supervision opportunities and got paid faster than expected too! ;) Every single human I’ve interacted with who is affiliated with MTG has been genuinely lovely. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to partner with MTG and find better work/life balance!

Cons

Not really a “con” for MTG but just private practice for an associate in general is to be prepared for a lower take home percentage until you are fully licensed. TRUST ME though, what you are “paying” is so worth it for the support you get.
