Pros
As a working mother raising small children, this is a wonderful place to be. Because of the administrative support MTG provides, I can have a thriving practice and still have time to focus on my young family. MTG was so warm and understanding through my two pregnancies and maternity leaves. MTG respects the fact that this is my own business and practice, so they completely allowed me to decide when to go on my leave, when to return to the office, and how many days I want to work after having a baby. They reserved my office hours for me while I was gone. As any parents would know, life after having a new baby can be unpredictable. I was planning on returning to work after 3 months but I was just not ready. I let them know that I would need more time away from the office. They were warm and supportive and no question was asked. I never felt any pressure from them. I always tell people that I am so lucky to be able to control my own schedule and have life work balance. Also I appreciate the owners' commitment to equality and social justice. As a woman of color, I know that racism and sexism exist in many work places and businesses. I am happy to partner with a business that shares the same values as mine.
Cons
Having my own practice has its own challenges at times, but that is part of running my own business. But having administrative support from MTG makes things a lot less complicated. I've rented my own office space and done all the billing myself in the past. It was just too much work and it was expensive to do it all myself. I'd rather pay MTG to help me with those things, so I can focus on other important things in life!
