Pros
Since it is a small company, one gets to get his/her hands dirty in a lot of things, the only thing you need is the initiative. There were some very good engineers when I used to work there. You can get to choose the projects you want to work in, once again only if you take the initiative.
Cons
You learn a lot in the initial stages, but the work tends to get monotonous after a while. So the learning experience keeps decreasing as you move forward.
