Smart People, Ambitious Culture, Strong Core Product, Sales Problematic - Sales Mirakl Employee Review

Pros

People and culture: employees are extremely competent and helpful. Managers, especially French ones, sometimes might come across as arrogant and close-minded but they have a different optics on the company - you might have one complaining prospect or a client, they see hundreds of successful clients making billions of euros per year using their platform. The core product, the marketplace platform is bulletproof and years ahead of competition. If you work at one of the core departments, such as product, customer success or engineering you will have a stable position with career development opportunities at a growing global IT company. It will be a bit different if you’re in sales and marketing.

Cons

Working in sales is tougher than elsewhere, only few AEs and AMs ever achieve their annual quota and achieving it 2 years in a row is almost impossible, you’d have to be based in Paris, close to French market and HQ to have a fair chance of doing that. As a consequence, if you accept a 50/50 split and if you work hard you will land at 75% of OTE, in exceptional years 50% (and fired next year unless you sell something big) or 100% (and get an award at an annual sales kickoff). Don’t bother asking current sales hiring managers about quota attainment because nobody would accept the job if they presented the numbers. Most probably they would tell you a story about that one rock star who made 200% last year or something else in that spirit. :) B2B segment is yet a different difficulty level that brought down many good salespeople at Mirakl.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We truly appreciate your recognition of our people, culture, and product. At Mirakl, we’re dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can succeed, and we take great pride in continuously delivering cutting-edge solutions. We understand your concerns regarding sales targets. While sales roles are demanding, with a risk / reward mechanism, in the past three years, three quarters of our sales reps reached at least 75% of their quota, and many have even overachieved it. As we look ahead to 2024, we're proud to see even stronger results expected across our teams. More importantly, in terms of achieving quota outside of our Paris HQ, it's important to highlight that our top-performing sales reps in 2023 covered international markets like DACH, Eastern Europe, and the UK, and we’re projecting similar results for 2024. This reinforces our commitment to fostering successful teams and creating career development opportunities across all regions as we grow. On the topic of career development, we’re proud to share that over 25% of our workforce experiences internal mobility each year, including promotions and international transfers. We regret if your experience hasn’t fully reflected the existence of these opportunities, and we remain committed to increasing transparency and support for all teams. Thank you again for sharing your insights. We’re available to discuss further if needed, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

- experience to put on your resume

Cons

They typically don’t do return offers, which kinda defeats one of the main benefits of being an intern/co-op. Also, they have so many co-ops and even co-ops with no full-time person who does the same job. So there’s limited learning opportunities as a co-op, and it comes off like Mirakl is just looking for cheap, temporary labor. You can also end up severely overworked and overwhelmed depending on your manager. Expect unpaid overtime depending on your team.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your co-op experience does not reflect the environment we strive to create. We would really appreciate the opportunity to better understand your perspective. Learning and development are core to us. Our early career programs are designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience, with close collaboration within the team and regular check-ins so interns and apprentices can learn, contribute, and grow throughout their time at Mirakl. Depending on business needs, team structure, and available openings, a permanent role may not always be possible — and this is made clear from the interview process. Whenever it is possible, we strongly encourage and promote this option, that's why in 2025, around 20% of our interns/apprentices continued at Mirakl in a permanent role. We also take workload and work-life balance very seriously. We encourage open communication and early escalation when someone feels overwhelmed, whether with a manager or a People Partner, so that solutions and support can be put in place. We’re sorry if you didn’t feel able to benefit from this, and we continue to train and support our managers on these topics. We wish you all the best for the rest of your career. – The People Team
