Pros
The learning and travel opportunities are tremendous. For the Jr. Associate role, the new hires are flown to India for 6 months (now will be for a year) for intensive training in what is a "mini-MBA." This role gives the opportunity to build life-long friendships with people from around the world. I got to participate in clubs and activities that I know no other company would provide. The company gives hands-on experience right away, even with the employees being fresh out of university. Working in client services as an entry level hire usually means that you are a pencil-pusher and not allowed to have any contact with the clients until much later in the career. Mu Sigma believes in extreme experimentation, allowing new hires to talk to clients just 3 or 4 months in. Mu Sigma may not have the best CEO in the world, but the people in his team directly below him are mostly very good people and leaders. They have great ideas for this company and have a solid understanding of how to properly manage. This company encourages people to work outside of silos, so that an employee will gain skills outside of his studied field. This is great for someone who wants to explore industry horizontals and verticals. This is also something you do not find in many companies. This company is 100% worth the negative stuff. I am a firm believer in having to work your behind off in your first job. Pay your dues and it will pay off.
Cons
The regional heads and account managers tend to micromanage and belittle the employees. I have been working onsite at the client location for 2 months now, meaning I have been with the company for 8 months total. I am still being told that I am too new to know anything. It is a mixed message because this company hires primarily new grads and prides themselves on their own training. The CEO and Founder is narcissistic and self-centered, caring only about how much money he can make and if he alone looks good. The employees in India are greatly underpaid and it is very uncomfortable to see how they can barely afford rent. The program in India for the Junior Associates, the Columbus Program, although a terrible name, is a great program. I strongly believe in the program. This program needs to have a much more thought out structure and the people in the program should receive a larger stipend, especially since it is being taxed out of the state of Illinois. Employees in the Columbus Program with student loans that need to be paid off should be very wary of this role. It is not enough pay loans, buy food, and save enough money for the first month or two of rent upon return to the US.
