Pros
You get to work with some wonderful clients. Most staff are there because they truly care about helping others. It can be a very rewarding job. These are the parts of the job that I really loved.
Cons
Complete absence of adequate leadership. Staff in the congregate care settings were essentially left on their own throughout the pandemic. They were the ones who were at risk while caring for the clients. Staff were overworked and have voiced their opinions about the lack of support and the company's inability to hire adequate employees. There is a cycle of burning out the good employees until they quit, only to promote mediocre employees into management positions. These managers are not qualified for their roles and end up hiring more inadequate employees. There is a culture of desperation where programs are willing to hire almost anyone. This is how you end up with problem/toxic employees who degrade the culture of a program. Once they are in, management does nothing to get them out. The Farmington office remains uninvolved for as long as possible unless the problem directly affects their public image.
