- Low Pay
- No Promotions
- Annual review cycle very unclear and not transparent
- Politics (People terminated when they go against the grain)
- Benefits have improved but still not great
I Initially started at the company at a lower pay so I could gain experience and was told I would get a potential increase after 6 months in, that didn't happen nor did a conversation about it happen. During my annual review, I was increased 1k and told that was a competitive rate for my "compa ratio". Transparency around compa ratios and the review cycle were never clear. The next several years were the same story. I was at a high compa yet several people on my team were offered promotions and raises. I took more and more on yet nothing changed. I asked specifically about getting promoted and it was "we'll see how things go".
People consistently didn't know when the annual review cycle was happening, what they were rated at, or how it all worked until after everything was said and done and you got your eval. How do you make a case for yourself when you don't know when things are happening? When COVID hit they froze promotions/salary increases yet people have still been promoted.
Other employees would tell me stories of their bosses or someone going against the grain and the next thing they knew they were getting terminated due to lack of work or the job being eliminated. Lot of emphasis on culture and values but not sure they were really lived into.
Internal training programs seemed to be busywork, you would come up with fixes for issues at the company but nothing was implemented. Leadership training hardly happened.
More companies are being bought yet there are a lot of inefficiencies still happening and duplication of processes.
Benefits used to only have one plan now there are two.
