Pros

The science behind the products is exciting, and could be an amazing way to fight cancer Patrick Soon-Shiong has some great ideas and technology that he's pushing. There are some great people on the team trying to execute the plan.

Cons

Patrick and the rest of the executives appear to lack a complete understanding of what it takes to execute the start-up of a GMP BioManufacturing facility. There's a complete lack of resources in order to effectively and efficiently start-up a facility. They hear from the management team the resources that are required, but positions aren't being created or filled. The Executives and HR make excuses for why they can't create, recruit and fill roles, and refuse to understand what needs to change in the culture in order to retain staff. They've seen massive amounts of resignations and just keep blaming that it's a start-up, rather than identifying the root causes and addressing it. They've brought in management with strong experience from area biotechs, but the Executives refuse to make the needed change. They're going to keep nickel and diming the start-up of the El Segundo 605 Douglas facility, rather than spending the money to get the facility GMP and operational ready. The team lets the executives know what is needed to truly have a reliable, compliant GMP facility, but Patrick and the executives seem to just want to cut corners to try and make it work. The HR department also lacks the understanding of how to implement an appropriate on-call policy to appropriately compensate employees that need to be ready to come in at all hours due to a lack of appropriate staffing. Patrick owns so many companies that he doesn't have the time to ensure that NantKwest is on the path to success. He needs Executives that have worked in big biotech that have actually led the START-UP of GMP Manufacturing, and needs to give them the authority, and financial & personnel resources to get the job done.

Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback. We have been working hard to get to the root of any issues at Nant. Most recently, we have conducted a company-wide survey where every associate had the opportunity to tell us what we can improve. Based on the results of the survey, we will work closely with managers and associates to implement a specialized plan for each department. You are always welcome to provide additional feedback through the employee hotline or directly to HR.

Pros

Company is backed by a CEO who is a billionaire and is willing to invest in the company Building is nice-looking

Cons

Extremely disorganized organization There are not enough seats or parking spots for employees Most people are overworked and have difficulty taking time-off Unlimited vacation is an euphemism for no vacation due to amount of work I heard turnover is extremely high and most do not last more than half a year There is no cafeteria on-site and at many times no time for lunch Compensation and benefits are sub-par There is no transparency on decisions, priorities or issues Toxic environment as most people in the organization hate coming to work Billionaire CEO also heads other Nant companies, so his attention to NK is limited I heard "holiday party" food was catered by an In-N-Out food truck. What a joke!

Thank you for your feedback and it is unfortunate that we missed the mark from your perspective. We are a fast growing company that can feel chaotic at times. We consider your comments constructive and our priority is to make each and every employee has their say about the work environment. But, like any situation we listen to feedback and provide both positive and constructive feedback to Associate and Manager alike. To further illustrate this point we partnered with AON Hewitt to administer an employee survey and shared that feedback at each of our main hubs over the past 45 days. To date we have heard from both Associates and Managers where action plans were developed to address associate concerns. We welcome you to participate and continue to share your feedback.
